Contra Costa Watershed Forum May 2018 Meeting

Focusing on East County!

May 9, 2018 we are meeting in Brentwood at the Community Center. Our speakers will topics that are relevant to East Contra Costa County.

  • Earth Team has been working with a group of interns at Antioch High School. Since the beginning of  the school year in Fall 2017 they have worked at sites throughout Antioch, including the Antioch Dunes and the Upper Sand Creek Basin. Joelle Alley, Earth Team coordinator, and some of the students will share what they have learned this year, and what they hope to accomplish in the coming years.
  • Contra Costa County Supervisor Diane Burgis recently held a forum focusing on the issue of illegal dumping. It brought together people from a number of interest groups, including both groups that manage illegal dumping, and people who are effected by it. She will share insights from the meeting, and next steps in developing a plan to deal with this issue.
  • How to: Getting Trash Out of Our Creeks A discussion of trash, what can we do as interested individuals? Working in creeks it seems that a lot of time is devoted to dealing with trash, what works, what doesn’t? What can we do better? Let’s devote a few minutes to brainstorming ways to help with this issue.
