On Sunday, April 22, Acalanes High School and the City of Lafayette are combining two exciting events. From 1:00 2:00, Acalanes High School students will host a science symposium in the Performing Arts Theater at Acalanes High School, 1200 Pleasant Hill Road, Lafayette. The theme is GLOBAL WARMING A LOCAL EVENT, and the keynote speaker is well-known Professor Dan Kammen, Director of the Renewable Energy Laboratory at UC Berkeley, who will talk about Global Warming and steps we must take to improve our situation. Other speakers will discuss photovoltaic systems and alternative transportation options. There will be a question and answer period as part of the symposium. The event is free and a light lunch will be provided.
The second annual Lafayette Earth Day festival, with over 30 vendors and displays, will be held in the Acalanes parking lot from 12:00 4:30. A childrens entertainment group,Earthcapades,will perform from 2:00 2:30. There will be showing of the academy award winning documentary, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, from 3:00 4:30 in the performing arts center on campus. All events are free of charge.
