We will be surveying in Alhambra Creek, downstream from E Street in downtown Martinez.

Marsh Creek - MSH052 and MSH061 - From Highway 4 East coming from Concord/Martinez take the Highway 4 bypass which now starts east of Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch. Stay in the left lanes of HW4 and you will go straight on to the bypass. Continue on the Bypass past Lonetree Way and Sand Creek Rd. to Balfour Rd. Turn left on Balfour Continue on Balfour past Minnesota and take the next left at Sweetgrass. Follow Sweetgrass until it veers to the left at Darby Dr. Park near the corner of Sweetgrass and Darby. Afternoon (MSH061): From MSH052, take Sweetgrass to Balfour Rd. and take a right. Turn left on Claremont Dr. and another left onto Crescent Dr. and park on the right side near the rust colored pedestrian bridge which crosses Marsh Creek at Creekside Park.

Monitoring the diversity and abundance of aquatic insects helps to determine the biological integrity and overall health of our watersheds. In order to participate, volunteers must attend one of the two training dates. Both training dates will have the same structure and information, so please select the date that works the best for your schedule. Trained volunteers will be expected to commit to at least one 6-hour sampling day according to their individual availability (weekdays or weekends).

Please register online by the end of the day today for one of the two training workshops. Please include in your registration an indication of which creeks you would be interested in sampling, the number of days you would be willing to volunteer, and the specific dates you are available.

Pine Creek (WAL200) - Let's meet in the morning at WAL200, which is by the Concord Asphalt Plant located at 2000 Via de Mercados. It is located between 680 and 242, so if you take the Concord Ave. exit, turn onto Via de Mercados. Go down to the end of the street, and before you get to the asphalt plant, turn into the parking lot on your left and park in the spaces marked Galaxy Press. *Note* All directions are given from the County Building in Martinez.

Alhambra and Arroyo del Hambre Creeks (ALH050 and ALH140) - Let's meet in the morning at the Martinez Adult School at 600 F Street. We'll sample Arroyo del Hambre in the afternoon.

San Ramon Creek (WAL670 and WAL700) - *WAL670 – Zephyr Circle – Take 680 S to the Sycamore Valley Rd exit. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Sycamore Valley Rd. East and merge onto Sycamore Valley Rd West. Turn R at Camino Ramon. Turn L at El Capitan Dr. Turn R at Brookside Dr. Turn L at Zephyr Cir. Park at end of road and we'll meet here. In the afternoon we will go to WAL700 – Playa Court – Take 680 S to the Crow Canyon Rd. exit toward San Ramon. Turn R at Crow Canyon Rd. Turn R into 2821 Crow Canyon Road. Park around the back to where the parking lot abuts the creek. There is a mall across the street from here where we can get lunch or use the bathroom. *Note* All directions given are from the County Administration Building in Martinez.
