Trained volunteers will be expected to commit to at least one 6-hour sampling day according to their individual availability (weekdays or weekends).

From I-80E, take San Pablo Ave. exit, and turn right onto San Pablo Ave. (From I-80W, take San Pablo/Barrett Ave. exit. Turn left onto Barrett, go under overpass, then turn right onto San Pablo Ave.) After 3 blocks, turn left onto MacDonald Ave. After 1 block, turn right onto Key Blvd. and continue to Conlon St. Gateway Park is on the right side of Key at the end of the Ohlone Greenway.

Take I-80 to Central Avenue Exit. Head east six blocks, turn right onto Carlson Blvd. Continue down Carlson. Go through the stoplight at San Pablo Avenue and into El Cerrito Plaza. Turn right in front of the Longs and head south through the parking lot. There will be another stop sign at the corner sushi restaurant and the Creek will be in front of you to the south of the parking lot. Creek is runs on the south side boundary of the Plaza’s parking lot. There is a trail on the right hand bank. My understanding is the bottom of the reach is where it goes into the culvert just east of property 9800 San Pablo Avenue. The creek is here divided into two sections with street crossing and culvert.

Cerrito Creek (CER010 and CER020) - Cerrito 010 Pacific East Mall, 3254 Pierce St closest cross street Central Ave.
Take I-80 to Central Avenue Exit. Head east one block, turn right onto Pierce Street. Creek is located on the south side of Pacific East Mall. Take the last driveway into the Mall and head to the back parking lot. Park in the southeast section of the parking lot. The top of the reach is the Richmond border which is parallel to the east boundary of the Mall’s parking lot. On the bank you will see a rock wall and in the creek you will see a man-made rock bottom. Start the top of the reach from the west side of that structure. The bottom of the reach is 150 meters west/downstream. There is a straight trail alongside the reach. We easily leapfrog the tapes along the trail to determine the point of entry. We marked the trail with construction tape as well as the vegetation at the creek side.

The bottom of the reach is east side of the park just up from the confluence of Middle Creek.
