Celebrating Nature's Beloved Son - John Muir
The recently released book, Nature’s Beloved Son: Rediscovering John Muir’s Botanical Legacy, tells the story of Muir the enthusiastic botanist in words and stunning images of plants he collected during his travels. Join author Bonnie Gisel and photographer Stephen Joseph at Muir’s Martinez home to learn more about Muir, his botanical collections, and the journey they embarked upon to create their beautiful book. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing by the authors. Large prints from the book will be on display. • View plants Muir himself collected, interpreted by a National Park Service archivist • Tour the Muir House and the California Native Plant Garden • Watch two short films: one of John Muir’s life and another of the images from the book • Enjoy light refreshments
